The Impact of Business Continuity Management Systems (BCMS) of Financial Institutions on Disaster Safety Awareness and Organizational Commitment

Abstract
Purpose: This study aims to empirically analyze the impact of Business Continuity Management Systems (BCMS) and disaster safety awareness on organizational commitment in financial institutions. Furthermore, it identifies whether BCMS and disaster safety awareness function as key determinants of organizational commitment. Method: A survey was conducted targeting employees of financial institutions to measure BCMS, disaster safety awareness, and organizational commitment. The collected data were analyzed using a Structural Equation Model (SEM) with SPSS and AMOS. Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) and path analysis were applied to verify the relationships between variables using statistical. Result: The components of BCMS (organizational status, leadership, support, operation, and performance evaluation) were found to have a significant positive impact on organizational commitment, with operation showing the greatest influence. Additionally, the BCMS components also had a significant impact on disaster safety awareness, with leadership and performance evaluation having relatively greater effects. Disaster safety awareness partially mediated the relationship between BCMS and organizational commitment, confirming its role in enhancing the impact of BCMS and disaster safety awareness on organizational commitment. Conclusion: This study empirically confirms that BCMS and disaster safety awareness significantly influence organizational commitment in financial institutions. Notably, the operational framework and leadership capacity of BCMS were identified as critical factors for both organizational commitment and disaster safety awareness. Therefore, financial institutions should prioritize the establishment of BCMS while simultaneously enhancing disaster safety awareness through education and training for employees.

연구목적: 본 연구는 금융기관의 사업연속성관리시스템(BCMS)과 재난안전인식이 조직몰입에 미치는 영향을 실증적으로 분석하는데 목적을 두었고, 이를 통해 BCMS와 재난안전인식이 조직몰입의 주요 결정요인으로 작용하는지를 규명하였다. 연구방법: 금융기관에 종사하는 직원을 대상으로 설문조사를 실시하여 BCMS, 재난안전인식, 조직몰입을 측정하였다. 수집된 데이터는 SPSS와 AMOS를 사용한 구조방정식 모델(SEM)을 활용하여 분석하였으며, 변수 간 관계를 검증하기 위해 확인적 요인분석(CFA)과 경로분석을 포함한 통계적 기법이 사용되었다. 연구결과: BCMS의 구성 요소(조직현황, 리더십, 지원, 운영, 성과평가)는 조직몰입에 유의한 긍정적 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났으며, 특히 운영이 가장 큰 영향을 미쳤다. 또한, BCMS 구성 요소들은 재난안전인식에도 유의미한 영향을 미쳤으며, 리더십과 성과평가가 재난안전인식에 상대적으로 큰 영향을 주었다. 재난안전인식은 BCMS와 조직몰입 간의 관계에서 부분 매개효과를 가지며, 이를 통해 BCMS와 재난안전인식이 조직몰입에 미치는 영향을 강화하는 역할을 수행함이 확인되었다. 결론: 본 연구는 BCMS와 재난안전인식이 금융기관의 조직몰입에 중요한 영향을 미친다는 점을 실증적으로 확인하였다. 특히 BCMS의 운영 체계와 리더십 역량이 조직몰입과 재난안전인식에 핵심적이라는 점에서, 금융기관은 BCMS 구축과 함께 직원들의 재난안전인식을 제고하기 위한 교육과 훈련을 강화할 필요가 있다.
