Abstract
Purpose: This study aims to derive improvement directions for civil defense shelter guide signs from the perspective of problem awareness regarding the continuous exposure of colors associated with prohibition or hazard warnings during peacetime, not civil defense emergency situations. Method: This study aimed to survey on the current status of domestic and international cases related to civil defense shelter guide signs, conduct a public survey, analysis of differences in perception of guide signs by color using analysis of variance (ANOVA), analysis opinions regarding the change of guide sign colors between normal and emergency situations. Result: The results of the preference analysis by color of the guide sign were green (4.1333), red (3.2083), and yellow (2.6750), and the preference for green was high in all items (stability (psychology), visibility, reliability, and informativity) as a result of the analysis of differences in image recognition by color. In the case of normal and emergency, the method of changing from green to red in the case of emergency was the highest at 62.5%. Conclusion: In order to clearly distinguish between normal and emergency situations and to ensure accessibility and speed of information transmission during emergencies, it is necessary to review the color change of the sign and prepare an operation plan for it.
