Abstract
Purpose: The rapid revolution of autonomous vehicles(AVs) has brought significant changes to the mobility industry as well as society. AVs offer potential benefits such as reducing traffic fatalities, enhancing efficiency and improving convenience i.e., to the public. However, despite significant technological advancements, the public acceptance of AVs remains dismayed in Korea. This study examines the impact of three elements including technical factors, social factors as well as individual factors in building trust in AVs. Method: A structure equation model (SEM) conducted in software R was employed to analyse data from a valid sample of 264 participants in Korea. Result: The research findings indicate that technical factors including safety and compatibility, individual factors including educability have direct positive effects on trust, while social factors such as government support and media impact show negative effects on trust. Conclusion: The results indicate that trust serves as a pivotal factor for the public to use AVs.
